What are IP Phones?

Most companies today have the need to use IP phones. IP phones are softphones, which are used on the computers that are found within the company. These softphones allow the computer to transmit voices over the internet so that their staff can communicate with their customers and clients. IP phones are mostly utilized by big companies that have lots of clients and customers. This is because these companies sell huge amounts of products and not all of these products can be sold perfectly, some of the products they sell can be defective and will surely make the customer mad. So customers call their customer service hotline.

This hotline is for customers that have issues with the products or services that they have paid for, and will talk to the customer service representative and tell them their concerns and problems. So they usually give them a call, and the numbers that are given to them for the customer service hotline is a toll free number. When they call the customer service line, they are actually linked and connected via internet to the customer service office and also to the computers of the customer service representative wherein they have their IP phones or softphones installed.

Softphones usually do not have handles and is usually paired with a computer and a headset. The agents can also configure the settings of the sip phones via the phone itself, or the software of the phone that is installed on the computer. There are times that a customer service agent has a hard phone or Avaya, this is a phone that is connected to the internet and a computer so that the agent could speak to the customer via headset and also address their problems at the same time because they have the internet and the software to process the information and everything they need to come up with a resolution to the problem.

Softphones are usually installed on the computer, and they are programs which can be used within the computer, they are also connected via internet and headsets and can be used to make calls also. However, it is a little hard for first timers to use this kind of phone because they have to dial and release calls on the computer. It is because there is literally no telephone beside them whatsoever. So most of the companies that use IP Telephone Systems are call centers and major companies.
